Who they were
From Barcelona. You have probably seen his work without knowing whose it was: his elongated heads of girls, eyes closed, stand in squares across half the world, and the Crown Fountain in Chicago has been one of the city’s most photographed spots for twenty years. He works the alphabet as material —bodies made of letters from every language— and scale as argument. National Fine Arts Prize in 2012 and the Velázquez Prize in 2013. His large sculpture is out of reach; his prints and multiples are not.
