Who they were
From San Sebastián, she builds spaces rather than objects: vegetal lattices that read like text, pavilions you have to walk through, and water wells opened into the ground. She works in concrete, resin, bronze powder, alabaster and running water. She represented Spain at the Venice Biennale, made the bronze doors for the Prado’s extension, and holds the Spanish National Fine Arts Prize (1999) and the Velázquez Prize (2020). On the market her work is large and expensive; the realistic way in is her wall pieces and works on paper.
