Who they were
Born in Osaka and settled in Berlin. She fills whole rooms with thread —red almost always, sometimes black— until the air becomes a mass you can look at but not walk through, and inside it she leaves objects: keys, letters, beds, boats. She represented Japan at the 2015 Venice Biennale with «The Key in the Hand», and her retrospective «The Soul Trembles» has travelled half the world. Her work is ephemeral by definition, so what reaches the market are drawings, models and small-format pieces.
