Who they were
A Barcelona native settled in New York since 1971, he has spent half a century working on how the media manufacture what we take to be real. His «On Translation» series has traced since the nineties what is lost when an idea crosses from one language, medium or culture to another. He represented Spain at the 2005 Venice Biennale and holds the Spanish National Fine Arts Prize (2005) and the Velázquez Prize (2009). His work is video and installation, so what reaches the market is mostly prints, editions and documentation.
